Down Jacket Cleaning & Storage Quick Guide: Machine Wash/Drying/Moisture-Proof, Keep Fluffy for 5 Years
The core of down jacket warmth is fluffiness; incorrect cleaning and storage easily cause clumping and down leakage. Master these key points to extend service life.

- Pre-Cleaning Preparation
Check the care label:Confirm “machine washable”/”dry clean only”, follow requirements like water temperature ≤30℃ and low-speed dehydration;
Pre-treatment: Make paste with special detergent to gently brush stains, close zippers and stick Velcro;
Supplies: Use special down jacket cleaner/neutral laundry detergent with a laundry bag; avoid fabric softener and bleach.
- Cleaning Operation
Machine wash: Wash separately in a laundry bag, select gentle/down jacket mode, water temperature below 30℃, dehydration ≤800 rpm, wash once only;
Hand wash: Soak in 30℃ warm water for ≤30 minutes, clean by gentle pressing, rinse with running water until foam-free, absorb water with a towel (do not wring).
- Drying
Machine drying: Low temperature ≤60℃, add 2-3 tennis balls, pause to pat clumps halfway;
Air drying: Lay flat/hang with a wide-shouldered hanger in a ventilated and cool place, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature, pat every 2-3 hours, store only when completely dry.
- Storage Tips
Before storage: Ensure 100% dry, pat to fluff, clean metal accessories;
Method: Prioritize hanging for long-term storage, fold into breathable bags if space is limited, keep away from mothballs;
Moisture-proof: Place desiccants/bamboo charcoal bags in the wardrobe, air and sun once a month during off-seasons.
- Maintenance Tips
Reduce cleaning frequency:Wash once every 3-5 wears in winter, only clean local stains daily;
Avoid squeezing and contact with sharp objects to prevent down leakage and fabric damage.
